Privacy Policy

Effective 19 August 2026 · Version 1.1
Draft for legal review This document has not yet been reviewed by counsel. It is published here as a working draft. Do not rely on it as final terms.

This policy covers three separate things, and it is worth keeping them apart: the Audexi application that runs on your computer, the purchase flow when you buy a licence, and this website. They behave very differently, so each gets its own section.

The application

The Audexi application collects nothing, and the only thing it ever sends us is its own licence check. It has no accounts, no sign-in, no telemetry, no analytics, and no update check. It does not report which files you converted, how many, or what settings you chose. There is no server involved in a conversion, because the conversion happens entirely on your machine. The licence check happens once when you enter your serial, then roughly monthly in the background, and carries three things: your serial number, an anonymous machine identifier (a one-way fingerprint derived on your machine — not your hardware details, and we cannot turn it back into anything about you), and the app version. Nothing else, ever. If Audexi cannot reach the internet, it keeps working.

It stores almost nothing. Audexi writes no settings file, no preferences, no history, and no cache — your theme, output format, destination folder and every encoding setting return to their defaults each time you start it. The one thing it does keep on disk is your licence itself: the activation (or licence file) that unlocks it, in your user profile, so you do not re-enter your serial every launch.

The only files Audexi writes are the converted audio files you asked for, in the location you chose. Your source files are left untouched.

There is one network path in the application, and it is worth naming precisely: the CTRL mark in the bottom-right of the status bar is a link. If you click it, your browser opens ctrlcolab.com, and — like any website visit — that server sees your IP address. Nothing is sent unless you click it, and nothing about your files or your use of Audexi travels with it.

Your serial, and what our licensing server stores

Audexi is licensed with a serial number, emailed to you at purchase and activated online once — the application then verifies the signed activation locally, on your machine, every launch. Purchases made before serial numbers received a licence file with your email address embedded in it; those keep working, read entirely locally.

Our licensing server keeps the record of your purchase — your serial, its status, and your email address — and, for each activation, the anonymous machine identifier described above with the time it last checked in. That is the entire server-side record. It exists so a refund can end a serial, and so we can free a seat when you replace a machine. It cannot tell us what you convert, and it is kept for the life of the licence.

When you buy

Audexi is sold directly by us. To take a payment we need your email address and whatever billing details our payment provider requires; the provider also needs enough information to calculate any tax due in your country.

We receive your email address and a record of the purchase. Paddle.com Market Ltd, our merchant of record — see their privacy policy. handles the checkout itself, and their own privacy policy governs what they collect there. We never see your full card number.

We keep a record of your purchase because we have to — it is how we honour a refund, reissue a licence file you have lost, and satisfy our own tax and accounting obligations.

When you contact us

If you email hello@ctrlcolab.com we receive your message, your email address, and anything you choose to attach. We use it to answer you.

Please do not send us audio files unless we have specifically asked for one to reproduce a bug. We do not need them, and we would rather not hold them.

This website

This site sets no cookies. It stores nothing in your browser — no local storage, no session storage, no identifiers. There is no analytics, no tracking pixel, and no advertising network. We do not know who visits, and we have not built any way to find out.

Two things are worth disclosing anyway, because they are requests to servers we do not own. This page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, and the home page loads two JavaScript libraries from the unpkg CDN. Your browser contacts those services directly, which means they receive your IP address and your user-agent string in order to serve the files. We send them nothing about you, and we receive nothing from them.

Our web host may also keep standard server logs. This site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard request logs on our behalf; see their privacy policy for what those contain and how long they are held.

What we keep, and for how long

  • Purchase records — for as long as our tax and accounting obligations require, which is typically several years.
  • Your email address and licence record — while your licence is live, so we can reissue it if you need us to.
  • Support email — as long as the conversation is useful, then deleted.
  • Anything from inside the application — none, because none of it reaches us.

Sharing

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with the services we need to run a small software business: our payment provider, our email provider, and our accountant. Each receives only what that job requires.

If we were ever compelled by law to hand something over, we could only hand over what we have — a purchase record and an email address. We could not produce a list of your files, because we have never had one.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to object to how we use it. Email hello@ctrlcolab.com and we will action it.

Deleting your purchase record means we can no longer reissue your licence file or process a refund for that purchase, so we will say so before we do it. We may also have to keep the minimum record that tax law requires.

Children

Audexi is a tool for working with your own audio files and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13, and given the application collects nothing from anyone, the only route would be a purchase or an email.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the effective date and version at the top of this page. If a change materially affects what we do with your data, we will say so plainly rather than quietly reissuing the page.
